In this course, students survey, critique, and analyze the construction and consequences of portrayals of crime and justice in the media and politics.

Simply put, the course seeks to answer the following four questions: 1. What is criminal violence? 2. What are its causes? 3. What are its effects? 4. What can we do about it?
